Obama Allows Return of Slavery

As you know, the 2012 budget battle has been very ugly, with last week's announcement that the Republican controlled House of Representatives will not pass a bill unless it contains language repealing the 13th and 14th Amendments to the US Constitution. Some middle of the road Democrats have suggested keeping the 13th and 14th Amendments intact, but allowing indentured servitude as an acceptable compromise, and the President had endorsed this approach, but things changed today. Per the Washington Post:

The most bizarre political battle in modern history took an even odder turn today as President Barack Obama accepted Republican demands that Americans once more be allowed to keep slaves. “We have not yet worked out all the details,” Obama said in a press conference this morning, “but there will be a meeting tomorrow in which we will discuss the workings of this historic compromise.” Initially Obama had taken the position that only indentured servitude be allowed, with what he described as “appropriate and healthy protections for the indentured servants,” but Republicans had been unwilling to pass a budget bill for 2012 unless it included provisions for the repeal of those constitutional amendments which make slavery illegal.

What makes me really angry is that the Obama haters here at DKos will once again use this as an excuse to attack our president. We're going to hear stuff like, “150 years after Lincoln won the Civil War, Obama has lost it.” The simple fact of the matter is that this is absolutely not true. Obama did the best he could given the mess George Bush has left him.

The Washington Post goes on to report:

“The new slavery will not be prejudiced against those with brown skin, or those of African descent,” said The President, “The new slavery will be open to all Americans, both as slaves and slave owners, and it is our expectation that this will increase employment and improve the economy.”

I have read the bill very carefully, and as promised the new slavery will not be race-based, which is wonderful news. What's really good for us Democrats is that each slave will count as three-fifths of an employee for purposes of measuring economic improvements, and those numbers will be attributed to Obama's good management of the economy. This decision will also help businesses both large and small, and we are projected to increase economic output by an additional .3 percent each quarter, which will give The President and every Democrat riding on his coat tails very good numbers going into the elections. Per today's editorial in the New York Post:

The economic effects of this bill will be far reaching. In fact, a whole new industry will be necessary to serve the slave holding economy. We can expect the opening of auction houses for slaves, a boom in “slave retention gear,” and major opportunities in the care of slaves and the management of every aspect of slavery.” These will bring badly needed jobs to many local communities.

I spoke about the bill to a twenty-year veteran of the NYPD, and he said, “I'm really looking forward to retiring to a career in slave management. What could be more natural? I already know how to make people toe the line, and this is just more of the same as far as I'm concerned, but without the ACLU or liberal judges making it hard for me to do my job.”

I also talked to the owner of Erotic Creations, a major maker of fetish gear. “I'm planning to lay on a whole new production line,” he said. “Previously people have wanted gear made of leather, rubber or nylon, but now I can make some really hard-core stuff and big companies will pay for it. I mean, if you own a grocery store, why pay a box-boy? Just chain someone to the checkout stand and make them fill bags. It's a new world.”

The simple fact of the matter is that this will be very good for Democrats. As usual, The President is playing 11 dimensional chess, and all we can do is look up at him and admire his brilliance.

Once again, if you're one of those traitors to the Democratic Party who hates Obama, I don't want to hear from you. Obama did not cave to the demands of crazed Teabaggers, in fact, he did the best he could. Obama is a wonderful president and the entire country, both Republicans and Democrats, is very lucky to have him.

UPDATE

According to The Washington Post, Boehner has stated that he will not be meeting The President tomorrow. He will meet the President on Wednesday morning, and "Obama can take it or leave it."

Also, Fox News has published an editorial which states:

...despite his most recent attempt to fix the economy by reviving slavery, Obama has not gone far enough in giving Americans what they want. His socialist agenda is still extremely damaging to our country.
